Who grows the avocados?

Nordeen Organic Farm has produced fresh organic avocados for over 40 years in North County, San Diego, California. We have long practiced the principles of sustainable/organic farming and are now offering our fruit directly to you.  Removing the "middle man", packing houses, and large chain retailers from the equation means that our fruit arrives at your home without requiring pesticides, artificial fertilizers, ethylene gassing, or cold storage. What type of organic avocados do you grow?

The Hass avocado variety has been the mainstay of our commercial business. Its rich flavor rivals that of the Fuerte and due to its thick skin, ships much better than the more delicate Fuertes and Bacons.  However, we have seen a resurgence in demand for the Fuerte and Bacon varieties and we continue to offer both early in the season.  We have recently planted the Reed and Lamb Hass varieties which are ready to eat in late summer and fall.  We are on the path to having California Fresh Avocados year round!!

Can I order California avocados all year?

Currently we are shipping from November – July.  We notify all of our customers when we are up and shipping again.  We are making investments in the farm to offer fruit year round and recently planted Reed and Lamb Hass, which should be available in the late summer.  With the new varieties we have planted, we have almost reached our goal of shipping fruit year round.

What makes your avocados different?

They are grown in Fallbrook California, are certified organic, are hand picked, aren't gassed, are typically bigger, and reach your kitchen within 3 - 4 days of hanging on the tree.

Are avocados healthy?

Absolutely! That's why they make the perfect gift as opposed to a traditional gift box. Avocados provide nearly 20 essential nutrients, including fiber, potassium, Vitamin E, B-vitamins and folic acid. They also act as a "nutrient booster" by enabling the body to absorb more fat-soluble nutrients, such as alpha and beta-carotene and lutein, in foods which are eaten with the fruit. How do my avocados arrive?

Your order includes at least 5 lbs. of organic avocados selected for quality, oil content, and overall eating potential. Each order contains approximately 8 - 12 (depending on size) avocados in a custom gift box.

How are my California avocados shipped?

Shipping is 100% free because we love you! Your box of California avocados fits perfectly into a medium USPS flat rate box and can be shipped anywhere in the continental US.

When will my avocados arrive?

We pick and package your avocados on the same day.  The next day, your order hits the post office and starts it's trek to your kitchen. Since Mother Nature determines when the optimal picking time is, we cannot guarantee an exact delivery date. However, we will ship your avocados within a week of your order. We pick your fruit at its optimal ripeness to maximize the probability of you receiving perfect avocados. Your fruit will arrive within 4 days from being on the tree.

Can I send California avocados as a gift?

Absolutely! Our organic avocado gift boxes are a perfect healthy and delicious gift for your loved ones. On the checkout page, input a different mailing address than billing address and we'll know this is for a gift. There is also a place to leave additional special instructions or a personalized note.
